The school as venue 2022

It is in their everyday environment that the vast majority of children and young people experience theater, in places where they themselves are at home and the theater is a guest. The themetrack School as a playground focuses on the choices, strategies, problems and opportunities that it means to have the school as a playground.

How do we create performing arts and audience meetings with high artistic quality with the limitations that it e.g. does it mean that the performance can be moved every day, performed in rooms that are intended for something completely different, for an audience that has not chosen to see it themselves? How is the artistic work affected by all the practical, technical, economic and social aspects of playing in schools and preschools? What requirements are placed on the actors, the story, the characters and the design language?

For the track's performance program, Teatercentrum has drawn lots for four performances by independent theaters, members of Teatercentrum, who have all toured to schools and preschools in recent years. After each performance, there is an opportunity for conversation and exchange of experience with the theater, about choices and strategies specific to the school as a venue, based on the current performance.

In the seminar Teatern takes place, Teatercentrum raises issues that are specific to the meeting between theater and school and the meeting between the performing arts and the audience in the school.
