Teater Smuts startar punkband - Motståndsstrategier i ett fascistiskt Europa

What happens to us when uniforms are replaced by polished politicians and who is responsible for the wave of fascist victories around Europe? What happens when we fail to call things by their right name and how is the, often very white, punk scene a part of all this? How are you a part of all of this? 

Democracy is under siege. In Hungary the leading party is restricting the possibilities for the opposition to campaign. In Spain the freedom of speech and protest have been severely limited. In Russia there are laws against ”homosexual propaganda”. In Germany there is a vegan nazi cooking show broadcasted over the internet. The Sweden Democrats is the third largest party in Sweden. In Stockholm nazis film people voting in the national election. In Trollhättan several people are murdered in a school. One by one the European countries refuse to take more refugees. 

Through the concert format and the rebelliousness of punk rock, Teater Smuts starts a punk band explores the repeating history, fascism and racism today and how we together can create other ideals and dreams. It is a story about art, as an oppositional force, as a reaction and as a resistance against the powers that are threatening human rights and a peaceful, democratic Europe. 

Teater Smuts starts a punk band is a beautiful and scary exploration of Europe and Sweden today. An exploration of where your own body ends and the world begins. The show is based on artistic research, and contains stories from the present and the voices of researchers, politicians, students, debaters and Teater Smuts's own.
