Talking about theatre

Theatre meets education when teachers and their students come to see a performance. What does this encounter entail? To what extent is the young audience offered to participate in the process of performance art?

Performance art often strives to contribution to and visualization of possible societal change. This is especially prominent regarding political theatre. But is it enough to display an intricate issue on stage, or should the theatre contribute to the follow-up of and discussion about a performance? How can such follow-ups be carried out and what experience is to be found at the theatres in their encounter with the young audience? Should every theatre work with a pedagogue who can link performance art to education? Creators of performance art and pedagogues participate in a discussion led by Karin Helander, Theatre Studies Professor.

The seminar is a part of the project Shadowland, arranged by Swedish ASSITEJ and financially supported by Svenska Postkodstiftelsen.
