Snubben lättar på sitt hjärta (The dude opens up)
Bro. Brothers. Brate. Habibi. Brate moj. Brakam. Akhi. Ukhti.
One more time I’ve turned my cheek.
One more time felt like shit – didn’t fit it.
The weird dudes, that’s us.
They said: Romeo, didn’t we say, forget about dreamin’?
They said: Romeo, didn’t we say, forget about climbin’ up some fucking concrete wall?
Come on bro, who can I open up to now?
From 14 years
Motivation of the jury:
With great sensitivity in the acting, language and sociolect, which relies on keen perception and considerable empathy on the part both of the writers and of the perfectly balanced ensemble, the performance depicts a rarely revealed perspective. A toxic masculinity is staged with charm, violence and desperation, and through the chinks we catch a glimpse of something more in behind. This is a production that has the prerequisites to engage, inspire and empower an often overlooked part of the young audience.
